A 37 m Komodo phinisi with nine cabins on three decks: Elbark Cruises is custom-built from locally sourced wood, based in Labuan Bajo, and carries up to 18 guests. The upper deck holds Misool, Weh and Mentawai; the main deck, the dining room and lounge; the lower deck, four cabins.

Elbark is a boutique phinisi, custom-built from locally sourced wood, 37 m long with a beam of 6.8 m and 167 gross tonnage. Its home port is Labuan Bajo, and it sails inside Komodo National Park. At 7 to 10 knots the boat covers the short hops between stops.
There are three decks: upper, main and lower. Nine cabins are spread across them, each for two guests, which gives a maximum of 18. Every cabin is air-conditioned, with an ensuite bathroom, a rainfall shower and hot water.
On board: a life raft for twenty-five persons, 9000 L of fresh water and 5500 L of fuel. On a six-day charter for eighteen, the raft is reassurance and the two tanks are what keep the showers hot and the boat moving to the last morning.

Nine doors across the upper, main and lower decks
Three cabins sit on the upper deck: Misool, the 34 sqm master with its private balcony, sofa and jacuzzi, and Weh and Mentawai at 13.6 sqm, each with a bathtub. Two sit on the main deck, Selayar and Rote at 9.24 sqm, beside the dining room and lounge. Four sit on the lower deck, Toraja, Alor, Banda Neira and Savu at 8.75 sqm.
A party of eighteen settles naturally into three layers. The oldest guests take the upper deck, six of them in three cabins. Parents take the main deck, four in two cabins, close to breakfast. Teenagers and friends take the lower deck, eight in four cabins, each with a small round window.
We draw the cabin plan with you. Cabins differ in size and in bed layout, and not every cabin suits every guest, so the plan is written down and confirmed before you pay.

Where the party gathers: lounge, dining and sky deck
The main deck holds the dining room and the lounge. Indoor dining and an indoor lounge sit under the roof, and outdoor dining sits under a canopy, so a meal can follow the weather. Movie and karaoke entertainment is included for the evenings.
Out of doors the boat has a relax area on the bow and a lounge area on the after deck. The sky deck and the sunbathing areas are on the main deck and the upper deck. On a good afternoon eighteen people spread across four or five corners and can still call to one another.

Engine, generators, tender and safety gear
Power comes from a Mitsubishi 8M20 engine and from generators of 30 kVA and 40 kVA, with an emergency set of 8000 W. Navigation is by compass, GPS, a map and AIS. For communication there are SSB and VHF radios and handheld radios.
The tender is aluminium, driven by a Yamaha 40 HP outboard, and it carries guests between the boat and the beach. On the safety list: the raft for twenty-five, life buoys, a flare gun and a fire extinguisher.
Snorkelling gear, a paddleboard and a canoe are listed among the inclusions. The Wi-Fi is local Wi-Fi, with no speed or coverage promised.

We publish no crew headcount or roles, and we do not promise a menu or a bar. Extra beds are not sold: the boat takes 18 guests, two to a cabin.

How many guests can sleep on board?

Yes, local Wi-Fi on board. We quote no speed and no brand, and anyone who has to stay reachable for work should ask us before booking.
