Pink Beach, with time for a second swim
Updated 27 October 2026
Pink Beach is a Komodo swim stop where a long charter has time for a second swim. Crushed red coral tints the sand a pale pink, and the reef begins just off the beach. On Elbark Cruises the five-day sample pairs the beach with Padar on day two.
The beach on the itinerary
Pink Beach opens day two of the standard three-day route, ahead of Komodo Island, Pengah and Kalong. It is a named stop with no fixed time, so the length of the visit is the captain's to set.
The pink is real. It is pale. Red coral crumbs run through the sand, and its colour shifts as the light and the tide change. Do not expect bright pink. In the early light the beach looks softer than at noon.
The reef lies close to the shore, which makes it a popular snorkelling beach. The water is calmer in the morning, and the current is mild. Because the beach lies inside the park, each guest needs a ticket: IDR 50,000 for domestic guests on weekdays, IDR 250,000 for foreign guests.
A second swim, because a long charter has the time
On a three-day trip the beach gets one visit and a hurried one. A five-day charter gives it two chances. The first comes after the Padar climb on the sample's second day, when the party is hot and the water is a relief. The second can come later, when the light has changed and the others are resting.
This is the day off the clock at its simplest. No time is fixed for this stop; the boat sails onward when the day says so, so a swim that is going well is not cut short for the next stop. A swim that nobody wants to leave can run long. A grey sky can wait for the afternoon.
Final order rests with the captain, and our written confirmation reaches you ahead of payment. We promise a beach, a reef and time. We promise no colour, no calm water and no fish.

Who swims, who sits, who walks the sand
Swimmers have the reef near the shore, with the snorkelling gear that comes with the boat. Those who prefer not to swim can sit on the sand, walk the shoreline or take the paddleboard or the canoe out on calm water.
For a mixed party the beach is the easiest stop of the trip. A toddler can paddle at the edge with a parent. Anyone who prefers dry sand can sit in the sun with a hat and a drink. A teenager can swim out to the reef. Everyone is in sight of the others.
Nobody needs to be strong. The reef is shallow near the shore, and the stop asks for no climb. If any guest is a non-swimmer, tell the crew when you land and keep to the edge.
What to carry ashore
Carry as little as you can. A hat, sunscreen that suits a reef and a bottle of water cover most needs. Shoes you can wet are better than sandals that slip, and a dry bag keeps a phone from the sand.
Bring the snorkelling gear from the boat in a bag that the whole family can share. Leave towels and valuables aboard unless you plan to stay on the sand. The tender takes you ashore and brings you back.
Leave nothing. Take nothing. The coral fragments that colour the sand belong to the park, and so does the reef.
FAQ
Is Pink Beach really pink?
Pale pink, not bright pink. That tint is red coral worked into the sand, and it deepens or fades with the light and the tide. The early light shows it softest. Expect a warm colour on pale sand rather than a postcard shade.
Can we swim at Pink Beach?
Yes. The reef sits near the shore, with only a mild current over it. Snorkelling gear, a paddleboard and a canoe are on board. How long the boat stays is the captain's decision that day, and morning water is the calmer.
Is there shade?
We promise no shade at the beach. Bring a hat and sunscreen that suits a reef. The boat has shade on deck under the canopy, and the tender takes you back whenever you want to rest.
How long do we stay?
The length of the stay is not set, and the captain decides on the day. On a long charter the visit can be longer, or the beach can be visited twice. At breakfast, say how much time the party would like here; the captain then tells you what the day permits.
