Sebayur and Siaba: the first snorkel of a long charter

Updated 27 October 2026

A Sebayur Island snorkel on a Komodo private boat is an easy first swim, with a beach and a mild current. Elbark Cruises opens day one of the standard route here, or at Siaba, and the sample keeps the stop light.

Sebayur or Siaba: the first snorkel

Day one of the standard three-day route opens with Sebayur or Siaba. The route names both, and the captain picks one on the day, by the wind and the swell.

Sebayur is an easy snorkel and a beach. It is not a dragon trekking area, so nobody walks with a ranger here. Siaba is known for turtles. Both are gentle water for a first swim of the trip.

No length of stay and no depth is given. The stop is a reef near a beach, and it is easy.

Why a long charter begins here

A long charter starts light, and the sensible way to begin is with water that asks very little of anyone who has just stepped aboard and found a cabin. The party has just boarded, the cabins are new, and the legs are not yet tired. A calm reef and a beach make a good first afternoon.

On the five-day sample the first day belongs to the water: Sebayur or Siaba, then Taka Makassar and Manta Point. On the six-day sample it is lighter still, and Sebayur or Siaba has the day to itself.

Starting easy also tells you who swims well. The crew sees the party in the water before Manta Point, and the day-one swim shapes the plan for the hard stop.

Mask, snorkel and the first current

The mask, snorkel and fins come with the boat. Try them in shallow water first and adjust the strap. A mask that leaks on day one will leak on day four, so fix it now, while the water is shallow and nobody is watching the clock.

The current here is mild. A beginner can float, look and breathe. A confident swimmer can range along the reef. The crew stays with the group and says where the edge is.

A life vest is on board for anyone who wants one. Say so at the start, and nobody will look twice.

Where the captain decides

Which of the two the boat uses is settled on the day. Wind, swell and tide set the choice, and the answer can change between the morning and the afternoon.

This is the day off the clock. No hour is fixed, and a swim that nobody wants to leave can run long. A grey sky can wait.

We promise a reef, a beach and a crew. We promise no turtle and no particular fish. You and the captain set the stop order together, and the confirmation arrives in writing before payment.

FAQ

Is Sebayur the same as Siaba?

No. They are two stops. The standard route names both, and the choice is made on the day by the wind and the swell. Sebayur is an easy snorkel and a beach. Siaba is known for turtles. We promise no sighting at either.

Is the snorkel suitable for beginners?

Yes. The current is mild and the water near the beach is calm, so it is the gentlest swim of the route. The crew stays with the group. Mask, snorkel and fins are on board, and a life vest is available for anyone who wants one.

Can we swim from the boat?

Yes, when the captain says the water allows. The boat anchors near the reef, and the tender or the ladder takes you in. Tell the crew who needs a vest or a hand, and the crew watches the group from the water.

What do we see?

Reef and reef fish, and at Siaba turtles are known. We promise no particular animal, because the sea decides. Bring your own eyes, a mask that fits and a little patience. The crew points out what is there on the day.
