Travelling alone on a shared boat, with three days and a table of new faces

Updated 27 October 2026

A solo traveller on a shared Komodo trip can book a phinisi cabin on Elbark Cruises from IDR 6,500,000 (≈ USD 399) per person, for 3 days on Fridays and some Mondays. The fare is priced for 2 sharing a cabin, so ask us how a cabin is shared. The arrangement reaches you in writing ahead of payment.

Ask for a cabin

The lone traveller's cabin, and what the fare assumes

The fare assumes two people to a cabin. Every price on the open trip is per person with 2 sharing. It runs from IDR 6,500,000 (≈ USD 399) for Banda Neira and Savu to IDR 11,500,000 (≈ USD 706) for the master cabin, Misool. A guest who travels alone is the one case the table cannot price. That is a question for us, and no number on the page answers it.

So ask. Send the date and the cabin you have in mind; we explain how that cabin is shared and put it in writing before payment. We promise no cabin to yourself unless your written confirmation says so.

What the fare brings is the same for every guest. It includes the cruise director guide and the photographer. Onboard meals, snacks and drinks are in it, with free coffee, tea and water. So are the snorkelling gear, the paddleboard and the canoe, local Wi-Fi, and the pickup and drop-off in the city area. A personal tumbler goes home with you. Park tickets are extra: IDR 250,000 per foreign guest, and IDR 50,000 per domestic guest on weekdays.

Meals, mornings and the table of strangers

Nobody eats alone on this boat unless they choose to. Meals are laid out in the main-deck dining room or at the outdoor tables beneath the canopy, and the cruise director guide runs the day. By the second dinner the table knows who snorkels fast, who reads on the bow and who has already asked for the karaoke.

A shared trip is a shared boat, and a lone guest should hear that straight. The company depends on the date. Some guests arrive as friends, and others meet at the pier. Message us before you pick, and we tell you how full the date looks.

The solitude is there when you want it. The bow has a relax area, the after deck has a lounge area, and the sky deck and sunbathing areas sit on the main and upper decks. Your cabin door shuts. Early risers can walk the deck at first light, before the others are up.

Friday or Monday, and how to choose

The trip leaves on Fridays and on some Mondays, and it runs for 3 days and 2 nights. Every date is in the calendar with its status, and the first is Friday, 6 November 2026. A flag on a date shows a few cabins left or a date that is full, and we confirm the cabin before you pay.

On day one the pickup is at 08:30. You snorkel at Sebayur or Siaba, then Taka Makassar and Manta Point, and you end the day at Padar. Day two goes to Pink Beach, Komodo Island, Pengah and Kalong. Day three holds Kelor and Manjarite, with the boat reaching Labuan Bajo again between 11:00 and 12:00, so book flights after 14:00.

A lone guest should choose a date with room. When several cabins are free, you also have a choice of cabin and of company. When the calendar shows a flag, the date is nearly full, and a message early is worth more than a long wait.

The single-supplement question, answered honestly

Here is what we know. A fare on this site is priced per person with 2 sharing a cabin. This site states no supplement for travelling alone, and it states no discount either. We do not guess at a number that nobody has confirmed for the dates you want.

So the answer is a conversation. Ask us, and we say what applies to your cabin on your date. We write it out before you pay, and the amount in that message is the one that counts.

If you would rather not share at all, there is another route. A private charter puts the whole boat at your disposal. The fare is for the boat, from IDR 140,000,000 (≈ USD 8,589) for 3 days. It makes sense for a family or a group of friends. For a guest on their own it is the expensive way, and a cabin is the cheaper one.

Things a lone guest packs for a shared boat

Pack light, because a cabin sleeps two and the storage is the cabin's. Pack a hat, reef-suitable sunscreen and a bottle of your own for the walks, plus grippy closed shoes for Padar and Kelor. Sandals will not do for the loose parts of the path.

Bring something for the quiet hours: a book and headphones. The boat has movie and karaoke entertainment for the evenings. Take any tablets for seasickness that you trust, and ask your own doctor first.

Carry your passport details, because the harbour and the park list guests by name. Bring cash in rupiah for the park ticket, for tips and for what you buy ashore, since cash machines are in town and not on the islands. The snorkelling gear, the paddleboard and the canoe are aboard.

FAQ

Is there a supplement for travelling alone?

This site states no supplement and no discount for a single guest. A cabin fare is per person with 2 sharing. Give us your date and cabin, and the arrangement is returned to you in writing prior to payment.

Who shares my cabin?

You see the arrangement in writing before paying, so it is known before the deposit. Every cabin has a double bed and an ensuite bathroom. On your date, ask how a cabin is shared and we report what can be arranged.

Is it safe to travel alone?

The cruise director guide and the crew are aboard for the whole trip, and the boat carries a life raft for twenty-five persons, life buoys, a fire extinguisher, a flare gun and VHF and SSB radios. The sea and the weather are the captain's call. We promise no sea state.

Can I book the day before?

Message us and we check the calendar. A date with a flag can be full, and a date without one is open for enquiry. A booking made within 30 days of departure is paid in full on confirmation, so keep the payment ready. Pickup is at 08:30.
