The stops a five-day charter keeps, in the order the boat meets them
Updated 27 October 2026
Komodo National Park stops on a 5 day boat itinerary: over five days Elbark Cruises keeps Sebayur or Siaba, Taka Makassar, Manta Point, Padar, Pink Beach, Komodo, Pengah, Kalong, Rinca, Manjarite and Kelor, one cluster a day, in an order set with the captain.
Every stop in a sentence
Eleven names make up the long charter, and they come in clusters of three or four per day, so no single day asks a family to do everything at once. Eight have a page of their own. Each gets a sentence.
- Sebayur or Siaba is the first snorkel, with an easy reef and a mild current.
- Taka Makassar is a crescent sandbank in shallow reef, and it shows mainly at low tide.
- Manta Point is a reef in the central park where the current decides who swims.
- Padar is the ridge walk to a viewpoint over three bays.
- Pink Beach is a pale pink sand beach with reef close to the shore.
- Komodo Island is the ranger-led walk from the Loh Liang station.
- Kalong is a mangrove islet where the flying foxes leave at dusk.
- Kelor is the short, steep hill on the last morning.
Pengah, Rinca and Manjarite have no page of their own. They are stops by name: Pengah follows Komodo on the third day of the sample, Rinca and Manjarite share the fourth. Rinca is a ranger-led walk like Komodo, on the park's second-largest island.
- The Padar climb, taken at the pace of the slowest walker
- Pink Beach, with time for a second swim
- A walk on Komodo Island, with a ranger and no queue behind you
- Manta Point, with the sea deciding
- The sandbank that appears when the tide allows
- The evening flight over Kalong
- Kelor, the short climb for a last morning
- Sebayur and Siaba: the first snorkel of a long charter
Which stops belong to which charter length
The three-day route is the one with a fixed stop list. Day one is Sebayur or Siaba, Taka Makassar, Manta Point and Padar. Day two is Pink Beach, Komodo, Pengah and Kalong. Kelor and Manjarite fill day three, with the boat docking again between 11:00 and 12:00.
The longer routes are samples. They are built from the same stops, with Rinca added. Four days add a day of Rinca and Manjarite, with Kelor on the fourth morning. Five days spread the stops so that no day carries more than a cluster: water on day one, Padar and Pink Beach on day two, Komodo, Pengah and Kalong on day three. Six days give Sebayur or Siaba a light first day to itself.
The two-day sample keeps Taka Makassar, Manta Point and Padar for day one, then Pink Beach and Komodo before the return. No sample promises an order. None. Final order rests with the captain, and our written confirmation reaches you ahead of payment.
The people who set the sequence on the day
Four parties decide what a day contains, and none of them is us. The captain picks the stop order, and the evening anchorage, according to sea, wind and tide. The ranger decides the paths on Komodo and Rinca. The harbour authority decides when boats may sail. The sea itself decides who can swim at Manta Point. That is the whole list.
We decide the things that are ours. Dates, cabin plan and price are written down and confirmed by us ahead of payment. We arrange the pickup and the drop-off. When the sea changes the plan, the captain tells you, and the booking team answers for the booking.
Kanawa is not on any route here. Not one. Neither the standard three-day route nor the longer samples include it.
FAQ
Which stop is the easiest?
Pink Beach, Taka Makassar and Sebayur or Siaba are the easy ones: beach or shallow reef, a mild current and no climb. Young children and grandparents manage them well. The captain decides the order and the tide decides whether the sandbank shows.
Which stop is the hardest?
Padar and Kelor are the climbs, and both are steep in parts. The way up Padar to the main viewpoint runs 25 to 45 minutes without a patch of shade. Kelor is shorter and steeper. Manta Point is the hardest swim, because of the current, and the captain decides who goes in.
Is Rinca or Komodo better?
Both are ranger-led walks to see the dragons in the wild, and the ranger decides the path on each. Komodo is the largest island of the park, and Rinca is the second largest. The standard three-day route includes Komodo, and the longer samples add Rinca.
Is Kanawa on the route?
No. Kanawa is not on the standard three-day route or on any of the longer sample routes. The stops are the eleven named on this page. Ask us if a stop matters to the party, and we confirm in writing what the captain can do.
